The South Dakota Nurse Honor Guard will provide a brief tribute at the funeral or memorial service of deceased active or retired nursing professionals.
We are nurses who volunteer our time to pay tribute to nurses at the time of their death by performing the following traditions:
Attend All Services We attend all services wearing the traditional white uniform, cap and cape.
Stand Guard We stand guard at the casket and provide a presence at the services.
The Nightingale Tribute We recite the Nightingale Tribute at the funeral or memorial service.
The Nightingale Lamp We present the Florence Nightingale lamp to the family.
